Name: Shouto Todoroki
Canon: My Hero Academia (manga)
Canon Point: Ch. 353, the end of his fight with Dabi.
Age: 16

Backstory: Background

Personality:

Shouto grew up with an abusive father. He rebelled against Endeavor and his quirk training by refusing to use his fire, letting it simmer inside him. It made him volatile and dangerous when he stubbornly strove to go against Endeavor in every way until he learned to let go of the anger that kept him chained to his abuser. After his fight with Midoriya, he broke free of his anger and started down a new path. It opened a whole new world. Now, he tries to reach out to others in his own way but isn’t quite good at social interactions. Set times and schedules are what he’s used to from a childhood of strict training regimes. His entire life was controlled by Endeavor who monitored his every action from what he ate to how he trained. He’s figuring out his own thoughts still, trying to find what he wants for himself and it’s taking him a while to catch up to his classmates who all seem to know exactly what they want. He no longer bottles his emotions as much as he used to and can sometimes be found making an avid expression or smiling quietly to himself. He’s opened up to others about his family life and even invited Deku and Bakugou to a family dinner that ended up exposing his family’s dirty laundry. Still, he’s come a long way from when he was first introduced.

Shouto isn’t very emotive and usually keeps a calm and collected expression. Much like his quirk, he runs hot and cold becoming very passionate or frigid. He’s often distant and cool. Endeavor gaslighted his feelings at every turn when he was younger, berating him for being weak until Shouto, who was an expressive child, became someone who barely emotes. Currently, he's trying to become someone who others find reassuring just like his hero, All-Might. However, his inability to express himself has hindered him. He doesn’t look like he cares about others, but he actually cares a lot about his friends and takes care of them in his own subtle manner, engaging them in conversation if something seems out of place. The problem is, he’s not very good at gauging people’s feelings. He’s a little dense in that department. He takes things too seriously and usually speaks in a blunt manner coming off a little rude at times due to how he was raised. He’s not a shy individual after all. He questions figures of authority if he doesn't agree with them. After all, his father was a renowned hero, so he knows firsthand that titles don't make you right. He has enough confidence in his abilities to be bold on the front lines. He’s intelligent, but he’s much better at deciphering a battlefield than a teenage party. He’s honest, kind, and truly cares about helping others. It’s why he wants to become a hero, not to fulfill his father’s legacy, but because he genuinely wants to become someone who can put people at ease, a reassuring hero.

Shouto is confident and pushes forward, not alone but with his friends. It’s why he interned with his father at his agency, something he swore he’d never do, but growing stronger is more important to him than his pride. Since then, he’s learned to love himself and accept both sides of his quirk. It’s taken him a long time to realize that his fire can be beautiful, not just deadly and in that realization, he’s moved away from his father's training. Endeavor only ever saw his quirk as two separate aspects. Shouto struggled to blend both aspects of his quirk. After much self-reflection and training, he created his ultimate move Phosphor, a type of cold flame that can burn and freeze. It’s a technique that’s a culmination of his quirk and he’s deeply proud of it since it's the first time he's ever used his quirk the way it was intended, together, instead of separate.

Shouto came up with his new technique to stop his brother. After discovering his long dead brother is alive and a member of the League of Villain's his attitude towards those who commit crimes has shifted. He's come a long way from the hero who heavily criticized and judged the villains who broke into UA during his first year. Now, he holds some empathy for villains too. Despite his brother's crimes, Shouto can't find it in himself to see him as merely a villain. He sees himself in Dabi too much. The same burning hatred and need for revenge burned through him too when he first entered UA. He knows some of what he feels and Shouto doesn't intend to let Dabi burn on his own. He means to save him no matter what. He wants to stop Dabi from hurting others, but he also wants to connect with Touya. Shouto's connection with his family is deeply profound to him. He can't turn his back on Touya anymore than his mother. He lived with that once, having no connections to his family, and won't go back to it again. Because his father separated them when they were younger, Shouto isn't trying to connect with some past version of his brother, but the current one, flawed as he is. Yet, at every turn, his brother has attempted to kill him for the effort. Shouto struggles with the moral dilemma of having to choose whether he should act the hero and bring down the villain or act the brother and help his family. In his current canonpoint, he's chosen to do both but that doesn't make the struggle any less difficult. It’s also not over simply because he managed to stop his brother without hurting him. Healing from physical wounds is a lot easier than emotional ones. Working through trauma is a process that’s hard-earned, but gradual.

Skills
- Grand Strategy
- Applied Battle Tactics
He has a good sense of how to proceed during a fight coupled with an analytical mindset.
-  Hand to hand combat
He's been trained by the current #1 Hero since he was five. It's not his specialty but he won't go down easy either.
- Field Medic
He was the designated medic of the team during the Paranormal Liberation War Arc with an accompanying costume upgrade which added more first aid items to his costume. He can keep someone from bleeding out on an active battlefield but he's no doctor.
- Detective
Most of his hero training consists of gathering information to track and nullify a villain with an unknown quirk without hurting them or the people around them which takes great skill. He's good at deductions but falls short when it comes to street smart. He simply doesn't have the life experience for it since he grew up in isolation.

-  Dense
It's truly a grand skill just how terrible he is at reading between the lines. Subtext is lost on this one. He's a dense one.

- Combat Vest: monitors his temperature and heats up and cools down accordingly
- Utility Belt: metal capsules on his belt contain water, pain medication, disinfectant, and bandages.
- Snow Boots: spikes under the soles to keep him from slipping on his ice.
- Wrist Guard/Bracers: they help control his ice and flames by keeping the extreme temperatures from going up his arms to his upper body.

Game Plans: To work through his family trauma. It's a process and one he hasn't had time to fully engage with during the war.

Monster Choice:

1) Elemental, Genasi
His quirk can be considered an elemental quirk, generating and controlling ice and fire. He's struggled with controlling an elemental-like power and this monster type would compliment his inner struggles already when it comes to losing control of a deadly element.

2) Drakonis, Dragon
Drakonis have the ability to exhale an element which compliments his quirk. They're portrayed as bridges between two extremes which is part of his dual nature in wielding both ice and fire.

3) Celestial, Angel
Celestials protect which adheres to his hero pursuits, wanting to protect others. Their light can burn as much as it can illuminate which is similar to how he used to view his fire and ice, two seperate forces. Though, now he views them as one.
